Why Blue Note
blue note n.
a microtonal lowering of the third, seventh, and sometimes fifth degrees of the major scale. First recorded in print, 1915.

It is the note between the keys — bent slightly flat on purpose, because the exact interval was not saying enough. A piano cannot play one. It is also most of what makes a record move you.

We took the name because the specification is not the system. What decides whether a house works is everything nobody wrote down.

The note that isn't on the page. It's the one that matters.
Dallas–Fort Worth · Since 2006

We are not in the business of installing equipment. We are in the business of making a beautiful room work beautifully — and then staying quiet about it.

Lee Lancon, Founder
Vaulted great room with layered architectural lighting
Lighting Design

Light that knows what time it is.

Keypads that replace the bank of switches. Scenes that shift with the sun. Fixtures dimmed to the exact warmth the architect intended — and held there, every evening, without anyone thinking about it.

Lutron & Control4 lighting
Sheer motorized shades framing a terrace view
Shading

The view, edited.

Sheers for the glare, blackout for the bedrooms, both on one track when the room asks for it. Fabric chosen with your designer, hardware hidden in the pocket, motors you will never hear.

Motorized shading

Audio & Cinema

Sound you notice only when it stops.

Whole-home audio that follows you room to room. Dedicated theaters engineered for the seat you actually sit in. Two-channel systems for the people who still put a record on.

Automation & Networks

One button. Then nothing to think about.

Control4 and ELAN tying every system together, on a network built to carry it. Cameras, climate, gates and pool — reachable from the drive home, invisible the rest of the time.

The finish matters

Down to the plate on the wall.

Unlacquered brass, blackened bronze, matched walnut. We specify the visible hardware alongside your designer, not after them — because the one part of the system a guest ever touches should look like it belongs to the house.

Hear it before you commit to it.

Our showroom is not a retail floor. It is a working room where you can sit down, listen to the speakers you are considering in a properly treated space, and see lighting scenes and shades move the way they will in your own house. One appointment at a time, so it stays quiet.

Certifications

Certified, and accountable for it.

Anyone can buy the equipment. The certifications are what let us program it, register it under warranty, and get a manufacturer on the phone when a house needs one.

Lutron

Certified Lighting & Shading

Lutron-certified across RadioRA, HomeWorks and Ketra — the credential required to spec, commission and service a whole-home lighting and shading system.

Control4

Certified Dealer & Programmer

Multiple Control4 certifications held in-house — system design, programming, networking and warranty registration handled by us, never subcontracted.

ELAN

Certified Integrator

ELAN systems designed, programmed and supported directly by us, including the control interfaces and remotes your family actually touches.

Alta Labs

Certified Networking

Alta Labs-certified network design. The network is the one thing every other system depends on, so we build it first and we build it properly.

The Rescue Program

Somebody else installed it. Nobody's answering.

Systems outlive the companies that install them. When that happens you are left holding equipment worth tens of thousands that nobody will touch. We will — but we look first, and we tell you the truth about what we find. $499 certification visit, credited in full against remediation over $2,500.

Book a certification visit

Step one

Discovery call

Fifteen minutes on the phone. We tell you right away whether it is something we can support.

Step two

Certification visit

Two to three hours on site. Everything inventoried, network tested, credentials recovered, rack photographed. Written report within five business days.

Step three

Remediation

Quoted from the report, itemized line by line. You decide how far to go — including not at all.

Step four

You're covered

Once certified, your system is eligible for any Encore plan at standard pricing — treated exactly like one we installed ourselves.

What clients say

Nearly all of it is referral.

All reviews
Blue Note A/V has done all of my Audio Visual work since the first time they did a project for me back in 2007. I cannot say enough good things about Lee and Blue Note A/V. They are completely confident in all areas of Audio Visual Technology and are totally trustworthy. I highly recommend him and his team for any project you may be considering.
John D.Plano, Texas
I've worked with A/V guys in the past and they always seem to fall short of expectation. When my neighbor suggested I call Lee at Blue Note A/V I was expecting more of the same. He came over for the site visit to discuss options and I was blown away. Needless to say we went forward with our project and have been using Blue Note A/V ever since!!!!
